Hospital: Shot Pakistani schoolgirl can stand, communicate – CNN.com
Religion almost killed her, but medical science is saving her life. The sad thing, at least to me, is that there will be many people who praise god for Malala’s recovery, instead of the surgeons, doctors, and nurses that have been dedicated to her care.
This kind of thing will continue to happen as long as we allow religion to be used as a shield, as an excuse for barbarous behavior. I am very glad to hear that it seems as though Malala will recover, but humanity still has a long way to go.
I’m so glad to hear she’s doing better. I hadn’t heard that you. I agree that her recovery will probably attributed to the Christian god. It seems to be the way things go: if something’s good, we thank god. If it’s bad, we blame satan. Does no one ever wonder if things just freakin’ happen? Does no one think that maybe adding invisible beings into the mix might be unnecessarily complicating things?
It really does make you wonder… God gets credit for everything good, everything bad is blamed on Satan, free will, or explained away with, “God works in mysterious ways.” It’s an incredibly ignorant way to look at the world, and does nothing to hold evildoers accountable or give heroes the credit they deserve.
